Program Information

Sports For Kids offers Edmonton out-of-school care programs for children between the ages of 5 to 12 years old. This program offers children with opportunities to experience a variety of different sports and recreational activities in a fun and non-competitive environment. Our staff encourage respect, the use of proper manners, sportsmanship, participation and enjoyment at all times.

Sports For Kids is excited to be offering its fifth year of childcare service in the Castledowns area. We are located right in Katherine Therrien Elementary School. We run our an accredited program out of a multi-purpose room that is filled with games, blocks, lego, foosball, air hockey and more. We are lucky enough to have full access to the gymnasium everyday, allowing us to schedule a great program that accommodates every child’s need.

The out-of-school care is broken down into 3 different components,

  • The morning component (7:00 – 8:45 am),
  • The lunch component (11:30 – 12:20 pm) and
  • The after school component (3:10 – 6:00 pm).

Early dismissal on Thursdays is also accommodated.

The cost of this program is based on a monthly fee of $500/month.

Registered Sports Programs

Along with the regular program, Sports For Kids offers specialty sports programs. These are normally offered once a week for one hour over a 10-week period. We offer tennis, gymnastics, floor hockey, soccer, badminton, volleyball, track & field, dodgeball, yoga, dance, fit n’ fun and active games. We also have pre-school programs (from 3 to 6 years) that include: gymnastics, dance, yoga, drama, floor hockey, tennis, soccer, and an endless amount of fun, and active games. These specialty sports vary from $100.00 to $150.00 and children attending the kindergarten program or out-of-school care may choose two programs for free and pay for any extra programs desired. Registration Information

Philosophy: Sports For Kids is a physically active childcare program that provides children with opportunities to experience a variety of different sport and recreational activities. The activities will be provided in a safe, open, and enjoyable atmosphere, where sportsmanship, participation and enjoyment will be encouraged at all times.

Registration: Enrollment is open to any child who meets the age restrictions of the program. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis (payment must be included). All participants must have completed a registration form before they begin in any program. At least one month of notice must be provided in writing prior to termination of participation, otherwise regular fees are incurred. A deposit equivalent to the monthly fee is required for all registrations.

Programs:
September to June:

  • Out-of-School: $500/month
  • Kindergarten: $700/month
  • Morning (7:00-8:45), Lunch (11:30-12:20), After-School (3:10-6:00), early dismissal on Thursdays is accommodated.

Our Exceptional Summer Program is the best in Edmonton
July and August:

  • Monday to Friday open 7:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.
  • $600 per month* or *Includes all field trips and transportation
  • Kindergarten in summer is $750/month
  • The Fee is TAX DEDUCTIBLE for childcare credits on Federal Tax.

Food: We do not provide lunch, Your child will need to bring their own food; however we do have a microwave and a refrigerator available for use, as well as dishes and cutlery if needed.

Footwear: All participants are required to have a pair of clean, indoor running shoes to wear inside the facility only.

Absences: If your child is going to be absent, please inform us as soon as possible. Parents who constantly fail to call us will be billed $5.00 as an inconvenience fee.

Medication: If your child requires medication at any time, the medication must be given to a staff upon arrival and you need to sign a permission to administer medication form. It will be given as prescribed provided the medication is in its original container with the prescription clearly marked.

Emergencies: In the event of an accident involving your child, you will be contacted as soon as possible. If we are unable to contact a parent, then the emergency contact person will be called. An after hours number is posted on the office window facing the front road 780-668-5914.

Staff: All staff goes through a Sports For Kids training and orientation program. They all have valid and up to date First-Aid certificates. Most staff are university or college students who are succeeding in a child related field of study. Certain staff are required to have National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) designation for instructing our specialty sports.

Payment: All fees are due at the first of each month or at the start of the program. If payment is not made by the 3rd day of the month a late payment fee of $30.00 per month will be applied to the initial fee. Payment may be made using cash, Visa, MasterCard, and debit.

Additional Fees: Our program closes at 6:00pm,therefore you should be out of the room by 6:00pm. If you are late, a fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged. The staff have appointments they need to keep! Inconvenience fee of $5.00 for parents who constantly fail to call in absences.

Open Door Policy: The staff and Steve are always willing to listen to you. If you ever have any questions, comments or concerns please bring them to their attention. If it is after hours you may call 780-453-1266 and leave a message on the answering machine.
